Goals

The project "App-solute News" uses a newspaper app to investigate the transitions from analogue to digital society and aims to explore the effects of digitization on the everyday life of newspaper readers.

The innovation consists in the intergenerational, creative cooperation of students and seniors who work together on "Digital Stories" about the daily activity of reading newspapers. This leads to an exchange of experiences on an equal footing and thus to a break-up of common ideas about expert roles in the field of digitization.

The method of creative, intergenerational "Digital Storytelling" promotes both digital competence and intergenerational learning, which has the effect of revealing and breaking down stereotypical images of age.

Due to the inclusion of the aspect of intergenerationality, the interdisciplinary scientific analysis of "Digital Stories" and the inherent societal conceptions, fears, norms and values regarding age and digitization goes beyond previous research on these connections.

The scientific results, which will be compiled by an interdisciplinary team of researchers, will be prepared for Styrian companies and will serve to train their employees in the field of digital age competence in order to best align technologies with the requirements and needs of consumers.
